A significant snowstorm is expected in our area beginning early Saturday, 01/24/2026. Now is the time to prepare.
The Floyd County Emergency Management Team has been in close correspondence with the National Weather Service and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management. We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.
Get ready today:
• Water and easy meals
• Medications and infant/pet supplies
• Flashlights + batteries
• Phone chargers/battery packs
• First aid kit
• Warm blankets and extra layers
Please check on neighbors, especially older adults and those who may need help.
It is highly recommended that all preparations be completed and that residents be off the roads by 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, 01/24/2026, unless absolutely necessary.
If you must travel, keep your gas tank topped off and pack a small emergency kit.
