VDSS Mission

​

People helping people triumph over poverty, abuse and neglect to shape strong futures for themselves, their families and communities.

​

The Floyd County Department of Social Services is responsible for determining eligibility for the Food Stamp Program, Medicaid Program, and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) Program, Cooling and Heating Assistance.

​

This agency also administers programs for Adult Services, Adult Protective Services, Adoption, Child Care, Child Protective Services, Foster Care and other Court-Ordered services, e.g. Custody Investigations and Supervised Visitation.

The Social Services Board meets at 3:00 P.M. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Floyd County Administrative Building, 120 West Oxford Street, Building A-1, Floyd, VA 24091.

Social Service Board Meetings will be all in person, there will no longer be virtual access.

​

The Community Policy Management Team (CPMT) meets at 3 P.M. on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Floyd County Administrative Building, 120 West Oxford Street, Building A-1, Floyd, VA 24091.​​
