Boiled Water Notice *for all customers that receive PSA water services*

Updated: 11 hours ago

A boiled water notice is in effect due to a water main break and the potential of Coliform and Escherichia coli (E. coli) contamination.  The PSA has chlorinated the water tanks and is flushing the system and collecting samples.

If you cannot boil your tap water:

  1. An alternative method of purification for residents who do not have gas or electricity available is to use liquid household bleach to disinfect water.  The bleach product should be recently purchased, free of additives and scents, and should contain a hypochlorite solution of at least 5.25%.  Public health officials recommend adding eight (8) drops of bleach (about ¼ teaspoon) to each gallon of water.  The water should be stirred and allowed to stand for at least 30 minutes before use.

  2. Water purification tablets may also be used by following the manufacturer’s instructions.

  3. Potable water is available at the following locations:  Floyd County EMS station, 452 Floyd Hwy North, Floyd Va.

Please note: This notice only applies to customers who receive PSA water services. Residents who use private wells are not affected by this advisory.
